2009 National Rowing Championships

 

The National Rowing Championship (NRC) is a regatta that will be held in the fall of each year to mark the conclusion of the sprint rowing season.  It will be an opportunity for developing athletes in Ontario to measure themselves against current National Team athletes.  The 2009 NRC will be in London, Ontario, November 3-4, 2009.

 

Selection Process:

 

Step 1:

 

All athletes, NTC (National Training Centre) and non-NTC, wishing to be considered for entry to the 2009 NRC by ROWONTARIO must be registered with ROWONTARIO through an Ontario member club in the Competitive category by September 16, 2009.

 

All Ontario non-NTC athletes wishing to compete at the 2009 NRC must have a RADAR score.  Athletes must submit their RADAR score by September 16, 2009 along with their expression of interest to compete for Ontario at this event. Information on RADAR can be found at www.rowontario.ca.

 

Athletes wishing to enter any Adaptive events are not required to submit a RADAR score for consideration for the 2009 NRC. Only an expression of interest as outlined herein is required for 2009.

 

Rowing Canada Aviron – HP will be nominating all Ontario NTC athletes it deems must participate at the NRC to ROWONTARIO. These athletes who are nominated by RCA-HP are not required to submit an expression of interest or RADAR score to be included in the Ontario entries for the 2009 NRC, however they will be required to pay the ROWONTARIO assessment fee.

 

Important Note- It is the responsibility of each NTC athlete to confirm whether or not they are on RCA's nomination list. Any athlete not nominated by RCA, MUST submit an expression of interest and RADAR score by September 16.

 

All expressions of interest and RADAR scores must be submitted via email to Provincial Coach Phil Marshall. Email to coach@rowontario.ca by 11:59pm EDT, September 16, 2009.

 

Expression of interest must include:

  • Name
  • Home Club
  • Event in which you wish to enter *
  • Birth Date
  • Name of 2- partner if wishing to be considered for sweep event
  • RADAR score
  • Racing Shirt Size

 

 

 

Exemptions to these criteria may be considered on a case by case basis by ROWONTARIO under very special circumstances only. Any extraordinary case exemption requests must be submitted to Phil Marshall at coach@rowontario.ca by September 16, 2009.Decisions of ROWONTARIO will be final.

JW1x, BW1x, W1x

JW2-, BW2-, W2-

BLW1x, LW1x

JM1x, BM1x, M1x

JM2-, BM2-, M2-

BLM1x, LM1x

BLM2-, LM2-

AM1x, AW1x, TA2x, LTA4+

 

Step 2:

 

All submissions will be reviewed by ROWONTARIO.

 

All eligible athletes with a RADAR score in the Provincial Elite range or the Provincial Development range will be considered for entry into the 2009 NRC.

 

Athletes with a RADAR score in the Club Elite range or lower will not be considered for entry into the 2009 NRC by ROWONTARIO.

 

All athletes that will be invited to compete by ROWONTARIO or nominated by Rowing Canada will receive confirmation of their invitation by September 29, 2009.

 

Step 3:

 

All athletes invited to compete for ROWONTARIO, including NTC athletes nominated by RCA, will be required to pay a $50.00 athlete assessment fee to ROWONTARIO in order for their entry to be confirmed.

 

*Payment of the assessment fee must be received at the ROWONTARIO office by 3:00pm EDT, Wednesday October 14, 2009. All cheques or money orders must be made payable to ROWONTARIO and sent to:

Any athlete who has not remitted the assessment fee to ROWONTARIO by this deadline will not be entered into the 2009 National Rowing Championships.

 

*Electronic payment is not currently available.

 

Your entry will be confirmed by ROWONTARIO on October 15, 2009 via email.

 

Racing uniforms will be provided by ROWONTARIO and distributed in London immediately following the Coaches/Athletes meeting on November 2.

 

Some support funding for travel costs may be available from ROWONTARIO for non-NTC athletes. This funding will be confirmed as soon as possible.

 

If available, funding will be distributed as follows:

 

i) Level 1 funding may be issued to athletes who have achieved a RADAR score in the Provincial Elite range level by September 16, 2009.

 

ii) Level 2 funding may be issued to athletes who have achieved at RADAR score in the Provincial Development range level by September 16, 2009.
