Junior National Program Reminders

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to send out a quick and final reminder about some important dates and deadlines coming up:

Summer Coach Opportunities:
Letters of interest from all coaches interested in coaching at the Junior World Championships, CanAmMex training camp and regatta, and/or at the March Junior National Team Camp should be emailed before the end of day January 31st, 2009. Please see the selection document online for more details.

Coxswains Selection:
Age eligible coxswains interested in being involved with the National Junior Team program should submit an expression of interest by January 31, 2009. More details can also be found on the selection document online.

Erg Submission Deadline!
Please do not forget to submit your erg scores online! Regardless of whether or not you plan on trying out for the Junior Team this year, this is valuable information for coaches across the country to have. The next deadline is February 1, 2009 (2k or 6k). This is the final chance for you to submit scores to be considered for invitation to the upcoming March Junior National Team Camp.

U23 Men's RCA Information

Terry Paul will be coming to Brock on Monday January 26th to talk about
the RCA Development program. He will be in the Sankey Cahmber at 7:00pm.
The Sankey Chamber can be reached by entering the University through the
main doors of the Schmone Tower and immediately turning right. Proceed
through two sets of doors and go up a wide set of stairs. The Sankey
Chambers is at the top of the stairs to the left. This talk is open to
any coaches or athletes that might be interested.

Junior Camp - Sat, Jan 31st

Greetings Athletes and Coaches:

 

Junior Camp

 

When:    Saturday, Jan 31, 2009

                10 am-1 pm

 

 

Where:    Dons Rowing Club, Mississauga, Ont

 

What:    The camp is designed to be mostly technical in nature with work in the tank, erg and technical discussions around preparation/strategy for a 2k or 6k erg competition.

             We recognize that many athletes will be competing at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships the next day (also in Mississauga at the Hershey Centre) so do not worry that

             the workload on Saturday will interfere with performances on Sunday.     

 

 

RSVP deadline is Weds, Jan 28, 2009 at 11:59 pm.

 

 

We strongly encourage junior athletes to participate in the Canadian Indoor Championships and submit their 2k erg scores to the RCA Ergometer Monitoring program. The next deadline is February 2, 2009 the day after the Canadian Indoor Rowing championships.

 

The National Junior program will be hosting a March Camp in Shawnigan Lake, BC. This is an invitation only camp so be sure to continue to comply with the Erg Monitoring program, attend camps as best you can, and most of all train consistently and wisely. As the sign reads over the Shawnigan Lake Boathouse "Don't count the days- make the days count".
